How to withdraw from Hyperliquid

USDC goes out to Arbitrum. BTC, ETH and SOL go out through Unit. And "Send" is not a withdrawal.

Short answer

Click Withdraw on app.hyperliquid.xyz, choose USDC, enter the amount and sign. It goes to your address on Arbitrum. Hyperliquid's API docs put the fee at $1 and the time at about 5 minutes, with no Arbitrum gas needed. BTC, ETH and SOL withdraw to their own chains through Unit. Never use Send to withdraw to an exchange.

Withdraw, Send and Transfer: three different buttons

New users lose money by mixing these up.

ButtonWhat it doesWhere funds end up
WithdrawBridges funds off Hyperliquid to another blockchainUSDC: your address on Arbitrum. BTC/ETH/SOL: an address on that coin’s chain, via Unit
SendMoves funds to another Hyperliquid addressAnother account on Hyperliquid
Transfer to/from EVMMoves funds between Hyperliquid’s two layersThe HyperEVM side of the same address

Hyperliquid’s support guide puts it plainly: Send “is only to send funds to another account on the Hyperliquid blockchain. It is not to withdraw to another blockchain.”

How to withdraw USDC

  1. Go to app.hyperliquid.xyz and connect the account you want to withdraw from.
  2. Click Withdraw (bottom right of the Trade page).
  3. Choose USDC and enter the amount.
  4. Check the destination: it must be an Arbitrum address you control (normally your own wallet address).
  5. Sign in your wallet. This is a signature on Hyperliquid only; there’s no Arbitrum transaction for you to pay for. Hyperliquid’s validators submit the withdrawal to the bridge.
  6. Wait about 5 minutes and check your Arbitrum balance.

Cost: $1 per withdrawal, per Hyperliquid’s API docs. Minimum: the docs don’t state one beyond covering the $1 fee. Time: about 5 minutes (the older bridge documentation says 3–4).

How to withdraw BTC, ETH or SOL

These go out through Unit, the independent team that runs Hyperliquid’s BTC, ETH and SOL deposit addresses.

  1. Click Withdraw and choose the asset (BTC, ETH or SOL).
  2. Enter an address on that coin’s own chain: a Bitcoin address for BTC, an Ethereum address for ETH, a Solana address for SOL.
  3. Check the fee and estimated time shown in the window, then confirm.
  4. Track it in the Portfolio page’s Deposits & Withdrawals table.

We couldn’t verify Unit’s current withdrawal minimums or fees, so read them in the withdrawal window before confirming.

What you can’t withdraw right away

  • Margin in open positions. Hyperliquid only lets you remove margin if what remains is at least the initial margin requirement and at least 10% of the total value of your open positions. Close or shrink positions to withdraw more. See leverage and margin.
  • Staked HYPE. Unstaking HYPE to your spot balance takes exactly 7 days. See staking HYPE.
  • Vault deposits. HLP has a 4-day lock-up after your latest deposit; other vaults have 1 day. See the HLP guide.
  • Funds on the HyperEVM. Move them back to HyperCore first (how).
  • Tokens with no USDC route. Only USDC goes out to Arbitrum; other spot tokens need to be sold or withdrawn through their own route.

Withdrawing to an exchange

The safe way is two steps: withdraw USDC to your own wallet on Arbitrum, then send it from your wallet to the exchange’s Arbitrum USDC deposit address. If you’re confident the exchange accepts USDC on Arbitrum, you can paste its deposit address as the Withdraw destination, but send a small test first.

Don’t paste an exchange address into Send. If you do, only the exchange can access the funds, and Hyperliquid’s docs say you’d have to wait until the exchange supports Hyperliquid and then coordinate with it.

Common mistakes

  • Using Send instead of Withdraw. The single most common way funds “disappear”.
  • Withdrawing USDC to Phantom and not seeing it. Phantom doesn’t support Arbitrum. The USDC is on Arbitrum; import Phantom’s Ethereum private key into a wallet like Rabby to reach it.
  • Leaving a Telegram trading bot connected. Hyperliquid’s docs say most Telegram bots automatically re-deposit any balance, so withdrawals seem to bounce back. Send the USDC to another address you control on Hyperliquid and withdraw from there, or ask the bot’s support.
  • Phantom users with no USDC. You need at least 1 USDC to withdraw. Sell some SOL or another token for USDC on spot first (minimum order $10).

If your withdrawal hasn’t arrived

  1. Open Portfolio → Deposits & Withdrawals. Look at the Action column.
  2. If it says “Send Spot” or “Send USDC (Perps Wallet)”: you used Send. If the destination is an address you control, connect it to Hyperliquid and the funds are there. If it was an exchange address, contact the exchange.
  3. If it says “Withdrawal” and Pending: wait past the estimate shown in the withdrawal window. Hyperliquid’s docs say congestion can slow it, but it will be processed.
  4. If it says “Completed”: click the explorer link next to the timestamp to see which address received it. Check you’re looking at the right network (Arbitrum for USDC).
  5. If it says “Failed” for BTC, ETH or SOL: contact Unit through its Telegram group (t.me/hyperunit). Unit is an independent team.
  6. Still stuck: open a ticket in Hyperliquid’s official Discord (“open-ticket” channel) or via its support form; replies can take up to 48 hours. Anyone who DMs you first is not support.

Questions people ask

How much does it cost to withdraw from Hyperliquid?

A USDC withdrawal to Arbitrum costs $1, according to Hyperliquid's API docs ("at the time of this writing"). You don't pay Arbitrum gas; validators submit the transaction. BTC, ETH and SOL withdrawals through Unit show their own fee in the withdrawal window.

How long do Hyperliquid withdrawals take?

About 5 minutes for USDC to Arbitrum (Hyperliquid's bridge docs say 3–4 minutes). If it's still Pending well past the estimate in the withdrawal window, the network is congested; the docs say it will still be processed.

Why can't I withdraw all my USDC?

Open positions lock margin. With open positions, you can only withdraw if what's left is at least the initial margin requirement and at least 10% of your total open position value. Close or reduce positions to free more.

Can I withdraw from Hyperliquid to Coinbase or Binance?

Withdraw USDC to an Arbitrum address. If your exchange accepts USDC on Arbitrum you can enter its deposit address, but sending to your own wallet first and then to the exchange is safer. Never use Send for this.
