Unit (hyperunit.xyz)
The deposit layer behind spot Bitcoin, Ether and Solana on Hyperliquid: how a Unit deposit address works, what you pay, the minimums, and who actually holds the coins.
Unit is the bridge behind native BTC, ETH, SOL and other non-USDC spot assets on Hyperliquid: you send coins to a permanent Unit deposit address and receive UBTC, UETH or USOL on Hyperliquid spot. The coins are held by a 2-of-3 MPC Guardian network (initially Unit, Hyperliquid and Infinite Field). Unit takes no fee of its own; you pay only network fees.

What Unit is
Hyperliquid’s native bridge carries USDC from Arbitrum. Unit is the layer that brings in other native coins. You get a unique, permanent deposit address on the coin’s own chain (a Bitcoin address for BTC, and so on). When you send coins there, Unit credits the matching Unit token on Hyperliquid spot: UBTC (“Unit Bitcoin”), UETH, USOL and others. Those tokens are also linked to ERC-20 contracts on HyperEVM, Hyperliquid’s smart-contract chain, so they can be used in HyperEVM apps; Felix, for example, accepts UBTC as collateral for its feUSD loans.
The coins themselves sit in addresses controlled by Unit’s Guardian network. Each Guardian runs independent chain indexers and signs with a 2-of-3 MPC threshold signature scheme (a shared-key setup where any two of three parties must agree) inside secure enclaves. Unit’s docs name the initial Guardians as Unit, Hyperliquid and Infinite Field. UBTC was deployed on HyperCore on January 27, 2025.
DefiLlama counted about $947M held by Unit on November 4, 2026, mostly Bitcoin. That is bridge custody, not DeFi lending or trading TVL.
A note on sources: Unit’s live docs block automated fetches, so the minimums, Guardian set and confirmation counts here come from archived snapshots dated April to July 2026 and may since have changed. Check the live docs before a large transfer.
What it costs
Unit says it takes no revenue from deposits or withdrawals. You pay the network fees for the source and destination transactions, which move with gas prices. Unit quotes them live through its estimate-fees API. On November 4, 2026 it showed:
| Transfer | Network fee quoted | Estimated time |
|---|---|---|
| BTC deposit | 2,663 sats | ~31 min |
| BTC withdrawal | 858 sats | ~74 min |
| ETH deposit | ~0.00055 ETH | ~3 min |
| ETH withdrawal | ~0.000063 ETH | ~7 min |
Minimum deposits, as of the Supported Assets page archived on July 14, 2026: BTC 0.0003, ETH 0.007, SOL 0.12, XPL 60, MON 450, PUMP 5,500, FART 55, SPX 32, BONK 1,800,000, 2Z 150, ZEC 0.07, VIRTUAL 25 (on Base) and AVAX 1.5. Anything below the minimum isn’t processed; it is only rebroadcast if the Guardians later lower the minimum.
How to use it
- Open app.hyperliquid.xyz (Portfolio, then Deposit) or app.hyperunit.xyz and connect your Hyperliquid wallet.
- Choose the asset and its native chain to show your Unit deposit address.
- Send at least the minimum from your wallet or exchange. Do a small test first.
- Track it on the native explorer (mempool.space, Etherscan, Solscan) or explorer.hyperunit.xyz. After enough confirmations, the Unit token appears in your Hyperliquid spot balance; you can also check on HypurrScan.
- To exit, withdraw the Unit asset from Hyperliquid to an address on its native chain and pay that network’s fee.
Risks
- Custody rests with the Guardians. Two colluding or compromised Guardians could move the backing coins. If two are offline, withdrawals stall. We couldn’t confirm whether the Guardian set has changed from the initial three.
- Wrapped-asset risk. UBTC, UETH and USOL are only worth the native coin while the reserves stay intact and redeemable.
- Wrong-asset loss. Sending an unsupported token to a Unit address can lose it permanently; only some cases can be reverted.
- Compliance holds. Guardians screen addresses against OFAC and other lists and may refuse to process a transfer.
- Delays. Bitcoin needs 3+ confirmations, Zcash 100 (about 125 minutes) and Base 140+. Withdrawals wait in a per-chain queue, and Guardians can pause operations if they detect malicious activity.
- No public audit found. We found no audit report in Unit’s docs index.
- Region limits. app.hyperunit.xyz blocks prohibited jurisdictions, and Hyperliquid’s terms restrict the US and Ontario.
Who it suits, and alternatives
Unit suits people who want to bring real Bitcoin, Ether or Solana onto Hyperliquid to trade spot or use as collateral, and who accept guardian custody. If you only need margin for perps, depositing USDC through Hyperliquid’s native bridge is simpler; see how to deposit USDC. Cross-chain routers such as Across and deBridge are other options for moving value in.
